AbstractCase Study on GIS Implementation at San Diego International Airport Track: Transportation and Logistics Author(s): Ronald R. Butcher, Hank Peters The San Diego International Airport is developing an enterprisewide Intranet-based GIS system. The phased plan consists of (1) developing a plan,(2) developing a basemap with pilot data, and (3) implementing an airportwide GIS program. Early on, it was determined that to be truly successful the GIS system would need to be available to the entire airport personnel and be based on industry standards. To accomplish this, the airport has adopted Esri's ArcIMS software using the UNETRANS object model and is basing the data set standards on the CAD/GIS center's SDS standards. Ronald R.
