Abstract
Spatial Data Management in an Enterprise GISTrack: System Implementation for GIS

This paper will describe the experience of the St. George Consulting Group and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection in creating a spatial data management infrastructure for an enterprise GIS. We will discuss the issues involved in creating large extent spatial data sets, data inventory and organization issues, data migration issues, tuning experience for ArcSDE in Oracle 8i, and the storage of imagery in ArcSDE. We will also discuss the advantages of relational database storage of spatial data and the architecture of the geodatabase and ArcSDE.
