AbstractGIS for Air Quality Agricultural Burn Management Program Track: Environment Management Author(s): Mohan Balagopalan This paper presents the use of GIS as a tool for managing the Agricultural Burn Management Program administered by the Air Quality Management Districts in California. The administration of the Burn Management Program requires the air quality official to assess the meteorological conditions to allow agricultural burning on certain days, estimate the acreage burned and to limit the amount of acres daily, and to estimate the emissions from the agricultural burn operations. The paper explores the integration of the output from a burn modeling program with ArcView to assist in the administration of the Burn Management Program.
