AbstractDeveloping a Cadastral Basemap: The Foundation of Your GIS Track: Cadastral and Land Records Author(s): Dennis Wayne Janda, Ron Banuelos During this ArcView/PowerPoint presentation of Otay Water District's GIS implementation, Dennis Janda, P.L.S., and Ron Banuelos will discuss high-precision survey networks and the importance of ground control in the development of a cadastral basemap, use of coordinate geometry (COGO), rectification of record map data, conflict resolution, data cleaning, and maintenance. The procedures discussed provide for the creation of an accurate and maintainable cadastral basemap, into which new and/or revised parcels can be edited without the distortion that usually occurs. Additionally, any other georeferenced data, such as utilities, orthophotos, topography, environmental overlays, etc., can be referenced to this framework.
