AbstractArcIMS for Economic Development: City of Sacramento Case Study Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Jeff E. Levy, Yabin Su, Maria Macgunigal This paper describes, from a client perspective, the planning and development process behind the creation of an ArcIMS application for economic development initiatives in the City of Sacramento. The City's ArcIMS Economic Development Application was created with the goal of streamlining and expediting the economic development and redevelopment process by creating a "one-stop shop" for information relevant to economic development initiatives in the City of Sacramento. This "one-stop shopping" for a wide variety of data enables users to apply information to issues related to economic development, redevelopment, business development, and real estate transactions. The paper will address issues such as the motivation for creating the application, the goals and objectives of the application, partnerships with both public sector organizations and the private sector, data development, application development, and management, as well as other issues.
