AnacapaGIS: Building a Local Geography Network Node for Diverse Users

AnacapaGIS.org is a community service information cooperative founded by GIS professionals, teachers, and students. Our goal is to collect, develop, and disseminate Ventura County resource information using ArcIMS and the Web. AnacapaGIS cooperates with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and businesses with an interest in local geography. We work closely with Ventura College and its GIS and Geography program to train students and community members in the use of GIS. One of our first cooperative efforts is a hazards mapping project in conjunction with Ventura County government.
