Abstract
Using Database Business Logic to Manage New Zealand Land Information

LINZ is responsible for managing the geodetic, survey, and title information for the entire country of New Zealand. After a five-year effort, the agency completed an extremely ambitious and groundbreaking solution to manage an integrated online survey and title system. The program enables users to electronically process survey and title transactions within a single unified environment. Using Esri and Informix database technology, LINZ is able to integrate complex processing required to manage diverse requirements including a dynamic datum caused by floating tectonic plates. This paper will describe the application and examine the role of embedded business logic in the database.
