AbstractUsing GIS to Evaluate Ethnographic Links to Natural Resources in Biscayne National Park Track: Ecology, Archaeology, and Conservation Author(s): Mike Downs, Angela Johnson KEA uses GIS technology to analyze a variety of environmental data including archaeology, biology, geology, hydrology, and social impacts. This paper shows how KEA is using GIS to help analyze current human use patterns of natural resources within Biscayne National Park as part of an ethnographic overview and assessment. Specific user groups within the adjacent communities utilize different resources within the park. This study links resource distribution and utilization patterns back to particular user groups. The results are then used to illustrate how the social impact of various resource management options would be differentially distributed in the adjacent communities.
