AbstractDeer-Vehicle Collisions: Using ArcIMS to Display Deer Tracking Data and Accident Locations Track: Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management Author(s): Kevin M. Armstrong, Jack Cibor The Center for Conservation Research & Technology (CCRT) is currently conducting research to provide previously unknown information regarding factors leading to deer-vehicle collisions. Two general areas have been targeted: tracking deer movement via GPS/PTT collars within suburban areas (especially around interstate highways) and establishing a centralized reporting system for deer-vehicle collisions and carcass removals. Data gathered will be analyzed using GIS to determine accident "hot spots." ArcIMS will be used to display tracking data and accident locations over the Web. This will allow traffic engineers to target problem areas within their districts and determine if mitigation measures affect deer movement. Kevin M.
