Abstract
Delivering Spatial Data on the Web for an International Wetlands TreatyTrack: Ecology, Archaeology, and Conservation

The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands is an intergovernmental treaty that provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for conserving wetlands and their resources. Through its NASA-supported Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC), CIESIN has undertaken a collaboration to provide data systems support to the Convention. System components are being assembled to deliver integrated satellite-derived data products, qualitative metrics, socioeconomic information, and other related data in a Web-based analytic GIS environment. Esri's ArcSDE is fundamental to this work. This paper provides a scientific and technical overview of the project and highlights the impact of database technologies in its implementation.
