AbstractDelivering Spatial Data on the Web for an International Wetlands Treaty Track: Ecology, Archaeology, and Conservation Author(s): Gregory Yetman, Antoinette Wannebo, Robert Bourdeau, Maarten Tromp The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands is an intergovernmental treaty that provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for conserving wetlands and their resources. Through its NASA-supported Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC), CIESIN has undertaken a collaboration to provide data systems support to the Convention. System components are being assembled to deliver integrated satellite-derived data products, qualitative metrics, socioeconomic information, and other related data in a Web-based analytic GIS environment. Esri's ArcSDE is fundamental to this work. This paper provides a scientific and technical overview of the project and highlights the impact of database technologies in its implementation.
