AbstractConceptual Regrading Using 3D GIS to Evaluate Mine Reclamation Track: Mining and Geosciences Author(s): David Leigh Jordan, Kenneth Calhoun Regulators required evaluation of regrading of existing stockpiles at a mine site to evaluate the viability of using traditional reclamation methods. Existing stockpiles have slopes that are at an angle of repose, typically 1.5:1 or steeper. Custom three-dimensional GIS software was developed in Avenue for ArcView and ArcView 3D Analyst to perform conceptual regrading of all of the existing stockpiles, to estimate the volume of material that would have to be moved, and to estimate how much the stockpile regrading would increase the footprint of each stockpile. Each stockpile was conceptually regraded to a 4:1 slope, and the resulting topography was generated. David Leigh Jordan Daniel B.
