Spatially Enabling the Arizona Immunization Information System (ASIIS)

The Arizona Immunization Information System (ASIIS) at the Arizona Department of Health Services records all immunization shots given to children in Arizona. Scientific Technologies Corporation planned, implemented, and continuously supports the ASIIS registry. The process of spatially enabling the ASIIS program is an ongoing process. Four major areas are the focal points of STC's involvement: people, software, system integration, and business processes. Today, the program staff feels comfortable with spatial technology. Health specialists can fulfill custom requests for maps combining immunization, vital statistics, demographic, and geographic data sets in minutes. Business decisions at ASIIS are, in many cases, partially based on information obtained from maps.
