AbstractEvaluating the Impacts of Development upon Surface Water Resources Using GIS/GPS Track: Water Resources Author(s): Levon Yengoyan The Surface Water Management Division of Snohomish County has developed an integrated approach to evaluating the impacts of future development upon surface water resources within urbanizing areas of the County. This approach relies on high-accuracy GPS to inventory existing surface water facilities including culverts, ditches, enclosed pipelines, stream channels, etc. All data is managed in an ArcInfo environment, and AMLs are used to construct a complete drainage network. Additional AMLs are developed to convert inventory, land use, soils, vegetation, and slope coverages into databases for input into detailed hydrologic and hydraulic models. These models were created in order to determine flooding, fish passage, and habitat problems for existing and proposed land use conditions.
