AbstractSTK and ArcView in Action: Prime Examples of Defense and Intelligence Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Frank Snyder The Analytical Graphics Incorporated (AGI) Satellite Tool Kit (STK) and Esri's ArcView provide unique capabilities to solve a number of problems for the defense and intelligence arenas. The STK/GIS extension, along with a number of AGI and Esri modules, broadens the analytical capabilities of both STK and ArcView by interfacing STK sensor footprints and swaths, antenna gain contours, coverage regions, ground areas, and facility sites with detailed GIS databases. ArcView is able to use is sensor and antenna coverage information for bounding information queries, while STK can utilize the query-based data from ArcView in coverage analysis for imagery acquisition and communications. Additionally, STK can provide real-time and simulated satellite, aircraft, and missile trajectories to ArcView through the ArcView Tracking Analyst extension. Animation of these vehicles can be vividly displayed in ArcView and AGI's Visualization Option, with the latter providing a 4D ground-to-space fully interactive view. STK and ArcView software's bidirectional data exchange capabilities link the power of ArcView, and the thousands of databases it can use, with the aerospace systems analysis and visualization tools of STK. This paper will explore the STK/ArcView interaction and provide relevant examples of its use in the defense and intelligence solution space.
