AbstractGLIDE: Geographically Linked Information Display Environment for the USMC Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Terrence V. Busch, Brett W. Rodgers, Kari R. Zehner The Marine Corps Intelligence Activity currently uses an ArcIMS-based GIS for display and dissemination of their GIS project called GLIDE (Geographically Linked Information Display Environment). The system provides geospatial data (maps, video fly-through, VRML data sets) via map-, coordinate-, and place name-based searches. All map data is stored in compressed MrSID format and viewed separately from the ArcIMS display. An ArcSDE database stores the GeoNames database as well as the metadata and footprint information for all maps. Terrence V.
