The Historical Development of Al-Ain Between 1970-2000 Through Integration of Remote Sensing, GPS, and GIS

Since the independence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on December 2, 1971, and under the direction and supervision of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE has witnessed a rapid development in rural and urban areas. In Al-
Ain new developed sites include tremendous residential, agricultural, industrial, commercial, and infrastructure (electricity, gas, telephones, water, etc.). New hospitals, schools, and higher education institutes are continuously expanding.
The objective of this paper is to investigate the development of Al-Ain through integration of remote sensing, GPS, and GIS.
