Abstract
Implementing an SDS-Compliant Geodatabase
Track: Defense and Intelligence

This presentation will draw on the experience of Air Force, Marine, and Navy bases migrating from the Spatial Database Standards to the Geodatabase Object Model. We will cover object model structure, data migration, and optimization techniques. Most Esri users are aware of the power of the geodatabase: large file management, true multiuser editing, and intelligent GeoObjects. It also offers solutions for many SDS limitations. First, it allows us to address much of the data fragmentation that results from strict adherence to SDS. Second, we will demonstrate the CADD/GIS integration available with ArcInfo 8.1 CAD Client tools.
