AbstractAccessing GIS with a Disability Track: System Implementation for GIS Author(s): Max Woodbury II, Minott Kerr This paper provides an overview of one GIS professional's experiences entering the GIS field by discussing what learning, hardware, software, and workspace needs were identified and how these were handled. It covers, among other things, workspace/work station design, voice recognition software integration with Esri products, and examples of the highly developed ArcTools application designed to facilitate the use of ArcInfo workstation. The paper is intended as a starting point for discussing accessibility issues for people with disabilities working in the GIS profession and hopes to encourage others to share how they handled related issues.
