 SOA What? GIS Services on the Enterprise Service Bus Track: System Implementation for GIS Author(s): David Mockert, Kenneth Parsons The state of Wisconsin is in the process of developing a robust enterprise geographic information system service. As part of a larger IT Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Wisconsin Enterprise GIS (WEGIS) is developing a set of geospatial technology service offerings that can be plugged into business applications and services that will be available on the state of Wisconsin's Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) framework. These services will be developed using open standards and enterprise IT frameworks so users can incorporate GIS in almost any application, on a variety of computing and mobile devices, using geographic information accessed from databases and Web services kept in almost any format.
