Enterprise Integration of Multi-Media and GIS - A User-Friendly Solution
Track: Application Development
Authors: Lorna Heller, Keith Croteau

The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (HBWS) has developed a user-friendly, ArcGIS-Server based system which allows end-users to easily add and share geo-referenced multi-media throughout the enterprise.

The system, named "MediaPack", requires no special equipment, and is accessible to all HBWS employees via a web browser front end. No specialized GIS skills or extensive training is required to use the system.

Users click on an interactive map, which is delivered using ArcGIS Server 9.3, to create new MediaPack locations. After attaching digital photos, video and other documents, the MediaPack is saved in the HBWS enterprise GeoDatabase where it can be viewed from all HBWS GIS applications.

The HBWS MediaPack system provides a standardized methodology for all employees to add and share geo-referenced multi-media throughout their IT enterprise.
