AbstractAn Easy Way to Update Your Data Track: Database Design, Automation, and Management Author At Recology, a waste management company, we are regularly faced with the task of merging new quarterly NAVTEQ updates into our landbase while keeping edits that were made since the last update. We have recently implemented a methodology for merging our edits with new versions of NAVTEQ data. To facilitate geocoding and routing, we use ArcEditor to add alley ways to our existing dataset. These changes must be carried forward into each NAVTEQ data release. The MapMerger ArcMap extension is used to transfer alley ways to the new map and to identify which streets have had their address values modified. Numerous instances of reversed odd and even address values were found. We used MapMerger to preserve our previously geocoded information by selectively transferring address values to the new map. An estimated time savings of 70% was attained over previous data update methods.
