Defining Issue: Weather has a dramatic effect on transportation companies and a method is needed to assist in determining when a problem will arise and how to react to it. GIS Solution: Analysis of weather station data using ArcInfo Methodology: NCDC Summary of the Day climate data from EarthInfo, Inc. (precipitation, snowfall, maximum and minimum temperature, and evaporation) and internal corporate data are being incorporated and analyzed to determine problem areas and determine when weather will cause problems to operations.
