AbstractSpatial Modeling for GASB 34 Fiscal Analysis Track: Application Development Author(s): Darrell Kenneth Danner GIS and databases can make life easier for people administering local government activities, and one promising area of application of these two types of software is the integration of spatial and physical data with financial and planning data for GASB 34 compliance. In the past, municipal information on capital facilities such as street and water systems was separated into different and often incompatible formats. Spatial physical and fiscal information was found in paper spreadsheets and summary tables. Currently the development of powerful computers and sophisticated software enabled municipalities to combine all of these types of data into one information system.
