AbstractUsing GIS for Traffic Collision Analysis Track: Transportation and Logistics Author(s): Randy F. Thompson In an attempt to improve the current systems of traffic collision analysis and record keeping, Metro Nashville undertook a project to make collision reporting more efficient and more timely by moving the process into an Automated Collision Database using ArcView and MapObjects. The project consists of a MapObjects application for police officers to enter crash data and an ArcView analysis package to assist police planners and traffic engineering personnel in determining the top high-incidence locations for engineering and enforcement solutions.
