Abstract3D Modeling and Visualization of Geologic and Environmental Data Track: Environment Management Author(s): Bai Tian, Peter L. Nimmer, Al Easterday A chlorinated volatile organic compounds plume was discovered in groundwater during two environmental investigations completed in 1999 and 2000 at a helicopter manufacturing facility. An extensive volume of data was collected related to the site's geologic, geophysical, and chemical conditions. In order for decision makers to determine the proper course of action for further investigations and future remediation plans, easily understandable graphics were created with ArcInfo, ArcView, and GMS to assist in these evaluations. Examples of completed data visualizations depict the extents of the plumes in three-dimensional space, transportation mechanisms of the contaminants, site geologic conditions, groundwater flow patterns, and surface topography.
