AbstractGround-Based Landscape Planning in a Mendocino County Redwood Forest Track: Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management Author(s): John Fredrick Nickerson, Scott Alan Webb Mendocino Redwood Company (MRC) manages 232,000 acres in Mendocino County, California. This paper presents the use of GIS and related technologies in strategic planning on MRC's forestlands. A multidisciplinary approach to resource management is required. Economic and ecologic goals are achieved with input from forestry, watershed analysis, wildlife, and GIS. GIS route-based networks linked to the harvest scheduling model provide a tool to reduce negative road impacts at the watershed level. John Fredrick Nickerson Mendocino Redwood Company P.O.
