AbstractLandscape Assessment Tools: Integrating Science and Data for Decision Support Track: Environment Management Author(s): Paul J Kinder, Jr., Micheal Strager, Jacquelyn Strager As our landscape continues to change in response to increasing human population and demand for natural resources, we can expect more stressors on water quality, wildlife habitat, and ecosystem processes as a whole. Integrating concepts derived from landscape ecology and the hydrologic sciences with geospatial data and algorithms promotes sustainability through support of local and regional decision making and planning. By using a customized ArcView application (including the ArcView Spatial Analyst and ArcView 3D Analyst extensions) in conjunction with geographically referenced and remotely sensed data, decision makers, planners, and local environmental stewards can assess the current conditions of their watersheds, counties, and/or regions as well as visualize and quantify the potential impacts of future changes to their landscapes.
