AbstractDevelopment of GIS-Based Illinois Highway Pavement Management System Track: Transportation and Logistics Author(s): Ghulam Hussain Bham, Michael I. Darter This paper describes the development of a GIS-based pavement management system for the State of Illinois. The system is anticipated to considerably improve the decision-making process involved in managing pavements. The system uses current and historical data for interstate pavements and employs engineering and economic analysis procedures to aid in the development of the Multi-Year Highway Improvement Program. The system uses pavement condition, construction, rehabilitation, and traffic data for conducting the analysis. It employs prediction models that can predict pavement and traffic conditions in the future. The system is also capable of selecting pavement rehabilitation plans for the future.
