A review of strategic planning and its components helps geospatial industry executives understand why most strategic plans "sit on a shelf" collecting dust and outlines ways in which to build and execute strategic plans that help a company increase and/or reach their revenue targets. Marketing research is sometimes costly and time consuming. There are ways to utilize and increase your own research capacity utilizing ArcView Business Analyst and your own in-house information. Strategic planning and market research should be about increasing sales--learning how to use them effectively will do this.
