AbstractUsing GIS in Source Water Assessment Programs Track: Water Resources Author(s): Wes Kleene, Mark Unwin, Scott Emry A regional GIS has been developed to support Source Water Assessment, using data integrated from eight water utilities and 16 local jurisdictions. Data management included the collection and analysis of data from state, federal, local, and commercial sources. The GIS has been used to develop an inventory and qualitative susceptibility of the potential contaminants. Spatial analysis assessed the susceptibility of source water to known contamination sources in the contributing drainage area. The analysis from this study combined physical characteristics (of the source water and the assessment area), land use inventory, known source water contaminants, and potential groundwater conduits, to assign a susceptibility ranking.
