Abstract
Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS): An MPO, GIS Data, and an IntranetTrack: Transportation and Logistics

This paper documents how the CATS GIS Intranet Web site was created and how it meets user and agency needs, followed by a discussion of CATS future GIS/Intranet. Transportation planning takes place at a variety of scales, and GIS is essential to the process. CATS data is stored on a Sun server, and the file structure and naming convention are not intuitive. A GIS Intranet site was developed to present GIS data in a user-friendly manner where users can easily determine if data will meet their needs by viewing pages in their browser.
